Tagline: Get ready to take a chance on something that just might end up being the most profoundly impactful moment for humanity, for the history... of history.

Trivia: The vehicle in which Ellie Arroway travels through the wormhole system is a sphere surrounded by a dodecahedron, the fourth Platonic solid. This beautiful figure with twelve pentagonal faces was considered by some Greek philosophers to represent the structure of the Universe. It was favored by Carl Sagan, and appears many times in his TV science series "Cosmos" (1980).

Goofs: Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): For an astronomer, Dr. Arroway is not very good at math. If there are 400 billion stars in our galaxy, and one out of a million of those has planets, and one out of a million of those had life, and one out of a million of those had intelligent life, we're down to a 0.00004% chance that civilization exists. Even if we assume that she was only being repetitive, and meant that one in a million of the 400 billion stars has intelligent life, that is only 400,000 possible civilizations, not the "literally millions" that she claims.

"Contact is the story of a free thinking radio astronomer who discovers an intelligent signal broadcast from deep space. She and her fellow scientists are able to decipher the Message and discover detailed instructions for building a mysterious Machine. Will the Machine spell the end of our world, or the end of our superstitions? Will we take our place among the races of the Galaxy, or are we just an upstart species with a long way to go?
